Practical guide

Which ASL Windows app fits your task?

Compare six Windows apps by the job, setup and evidence they provide: Recovery Center, Shredder, PC Steward, rBroker, AI Hub Companion and Master Suite.

Start with the job, then choose the app

A health dashboard, a recovery tool and an AI coordinator solve different problems. Choose the smallest workflow that answers your immediate question, then add a second app only when its output is useful to the next step.

Inspect recoverable files or supported local artifactsRecovery CenterUse separate output storage. Overwritten, trimmed or unavailable bytes may be unrecoverable.
Remove a selected file and keep a bounded receiptShredderCheck the medium. A logical deletion receipt does not certify that all physical copies are gone.

Coordinate bounded workers and GPU reservationsrBrokerTrusted coordinator, compatible workers and explicit permissions. GPU memory is not pooled.
Plan approved AI work across owned computersAI Hub CompanionThe app download is free; hosted services and AI-provider usage are separate.
Use the AI Hub, rBroker and Steward workspaces togetherMaster SuiteWindows 11 x64. Separate profiles and consent still apply; AI credits are not included.

A practical example: a busy workstation

  1. Observe first. Use PC Steward to record memory pressure and active processes. Separate a current finding from an old reliability event.
  2. Decide whether moving work is appropriate. If you have compatible computers and authorized workloads, review rBroker’s coordinator and worker requirements. A second GPU does not automatically enlarge the first GPU’s memory.
  3. Approve a bounded task. In AI Hub, check the plan, target computer, allowed handlers and cost before authorizing work. Seeing a machine in a fleet is not permission to run on it.
  4. Compare the result. Record the task, duration and resource observations under comparable conditions. Do not credit the app with an improvement if you also changed the workload, power settings or hardware.

Keep recovery and removal separate

If your objective is recovery, stop unnecessary writes to the source and use separate destination storage. If your objective is removal, confirm that the selected file is the intended target and understand the receipt’s limited claim. Do not test both operations on valuable data.

A reviewer’s evidence checklist

  • Record the store product ID, installed version, Windows build, hardware and date.
  • State whether you used the standalone app or Master Suite, and which optional services were connected.
  • Separate a screen showing a plan from an operation actually completed.
  • Retain the app’s record and the independent observation needed to check the claim.
  • Report unsupported hardware and unsuccessful tasks alongside successful ones.
