ASL Shredder Privacy Notice

This notice distinguishes the standalone Android app, com.autosecurelogin.shredder, from the separate ASL organization service. It supplements the Auto Secure Login Privacy Policy; the more protective product-specific statement controls.

Standalone Android app: offline by design

The native Kotlin app has no account, advertising, analytics SDK, in-app billing client or Internet permission. ASL does not receive your selected files, filenames, receipts or audit entries. Google Play handles an app purchase under its own policies; the installed app does not contact an ASL licensing server.

What stays on your device

You select a document through Android's system picker. The app reads its display name, size and document reference to show the removal confirmation and ask that provider to delete it. A persisted document-access grant may remain in Android until revoked or the app is uninstalled. A provider can be local or cloud-backed; that provider's storage, network and trash policies remain separate from ASL.

Local evidence receipts contain an operation identifier, start or completion time, pending or logical-delete outcome and SHA-256 digest of the document reference, not the filename or file contents. These receipts are not digitally signed organization-service certificates and do not prove physical erasure. Cloud copies, backups, provider trash and flash remnants may remain.

The optional personal audit is off by default. When enabled it keeps controlled event codes, timestamps, operation identifiers and hashed target references in a local HMAC chain protected by Android Keystore. It does not upload records. A user-confirmed restart in version 2.0.3 preserves the old ledger locally and starts a new chain; it cannot recover history lost in an earlier build.

Retention and your choices

Receipts and audit files remain in private app storage until you clear the app's storage or uninstall. There is no automatic retention expiry or ASL cloud copy. Android backup and device transfer are disabled. You can turn off future optional audit events; existing records remain until app storage is cleared. Clearing storage or uninstalling is irreversible and removes these local records and app permissions, not copies held independently by a document provider.

Optional browser links and support

Help, privacy, support and reference links open your external browser only when selected. The app does not add a document reference, filename or receipt to these URLs. Browser requests and any support details you voluntarily send are governed by the website, browser and support service policies. Do not send confidential files or credentials to support.

Separate organization service

Organization integrations can receive opaque target references, authorization evidence and operational records and can issue signed service receipts. Those server-side workflows and retention rules are separate from the offline Android app; installing the app does not enroll you in them. Ask the organization that operates an integration about its retention and legal-hold requirements.

Availability and limits

Version 2.0.3 (build 7) is prepared for Google Play distribution. Store review and public availability are separate stages; check the actual listing. Production screens and confirmation dialogs request Android screen-capture protection. External providers, the keyboard and browser have their own privacy behavior. A pending record is written before removal and remains unconfirmed unless final provider acceptance is recorded. No deletion is retried automatically. A local receipt is not a physical-erasure or confidentiality guarantee.
