What it collects
- Your account: a verified email address, a password stored only as a one-way hash, and a lawful-purpose acknowledgment
- The single phone number you choose to check, and the evidence returned about it
- Text checks, voicemail reviews and saved contacts you add to your account
- Credit purchases and their payment references
Why it is used
To run the lookups you request, keep your account’s history, and bill credits.
Where it lives and where it goes
Your phone’s contact list never leaves your device; the service sees only the number you choose to check, which it sends to independent phone-data sources.
Who else receives it
- Independent phone-data sources, which receive the number you check
- Our payment processor, or the app store, for credit purchases
- Our messaging and email providers for verification codes and account notices
How long it is kept
Your lookups and saved contacts stay in your account until you delete them or close the account; payment records are kept for accounting.
Sensitive information
A lookup may return details about another person. Aya is not a background check and may not be used for employment, housing, credit, insurance or eligibility decisions.
