Bars or Badge: the Xbox engineering path starts with the existing 3D game
Build targets and controller work prepare the console path while keeping the missing console prerequisites and hardware checks explicit.
Work covered: Oct 2, 2026
Start from the game that already exists
The October 2 Xbox work began with the Windows 3D game and a numbered integration and release plan. It added console build entry points that reuse the gameplay scenes while preserving the existing Windows and Android entry points. The aim is continuity across platforms rather than a separate game that drifts from the current one.
A controller needs more than button input
The continuation added a controller adapter with saved rebindings, isolation of the selected controller and cleanup of rumble behavior. Existing Windows careers were checked through a compatibility migration associated with the input changes. These details matter because adding a new input path should not make an existing save unusable or allow another connected controller to unexpectedly take over.
Verify what can be verified now
The record includes a fresh Windows build, runtime checks and separate-process save creation and resume for both roles. Those checks establish progress in shared code and the existing desktop player. They cannot substitute for running the game on console hardware with the required platform components.
The release boundary remains clear
Required console add-ons were absent at the checkpoint, so no completed Xbox artifact or Store submission was claimed. Console sign-in, connected saves and hardware acceptance remained subsequent work. This milestone is the start of the engineering path, with concrete shared-code progress and explicit remaining prerequisites—not an announcement that Bars or Badge is now available on Xbox.
