ShopFit: a working starting page inside Shopify admin
The development app now opens a purpose-built home in Shopify admin instead of trying to embed the separate console.
Work covered: Oct 8, 2026
Resolve the first-screen failure
Opening an app from Shopify admin should lead somewhere useful. In the development store, ShopFit instead showed a connection failure because the destination was the separate ASL console. That console was designed to open on its own, so using it as an embedded starting page created an incompatible first step.
Give the embedded app its own job
The October 8 correction introduced a dedicated app home. Its role is deliberately focused: show the app’s permission information in the Shopify context and provide a clear link to the full console. The console opens separately, preserving the distinction between a compact administrative entry page and the broader working environment.
Why the distinction helps
A user can now understand where they are and what to open next instead of interpreting a connection error as evidence that the whole application is unavailable. The change also avoids turning the embedded page into a duplicate console with a second set of workflows to maintain. It solves the point of entry directly.
Scope of the verified change
The dated record covers the development app and its store-specific acceptance, with tests for the new home. It should not be read as a claim that the same installation has already been enabled for every merchant. The milestone is a repaired development-store launch path and a clearer separation between the app’s entry page and the full ShopFit console.
