ShopFit: measure what the storefront page actually sends
Direct page-weight measurement gives an owner inspectable evidence even when an external speed report cannot run.
Work covered: Oct 7, 2026
Do not turn a missing report into a performance claim
An unavailable speed-service response does not mean a page is fast or slow. ShopFit’s October 7 tool measures page weight directly so the review can still report something concrete. It distinguishes the HTML sent over the connection from the expanded page and records visible loading characteristics such as scripts and image loading choices.
Use the measurement for a specific question
The report can help the owner see whether a large amount of markup or many script references deserve inspection. It is not a browser-experience score, and it does not measure every aspect of what a shopper feels. That distinction keeps the evidence useful: a direct measurement answers what the page sends, while other tests are needed for the broader experience.
Respect the site being measured
The measurement is paced and stops when the site indicates a request limit. This reduces the risk of treating a traffic-control response as though it were the normal storefront page. The parsing and measurement work is shared with SiteFit, while ShopFit retains its own command and report integration.
Read-only tooling milestone
The record includes tests and an actual storefront measurement. The tool does not change the theme or remove scripts. It gives the owner a concrete starting point for a later, reviewed performance decision and an honest explanation when an external service result is unavailable.
