ShopFit: find useful best sellers without asking for customer fields

A reusable read-only ranking tool separates merchandise sales from unrelated order lines and keeps the analysis focused on products.

Work covered: Oct 7, 2026

A product ranking needs a clear denominator

An order total can contain more than merchandise. If unrelated fee lines enter a best-seller calculation, the result may not answer the question the owner intended to ask. ShopFit’s October 7 work made the best-seller analysis reusable and tightened the way product sales contribute to the ranking.

Read the data needed for the product question

The tool reads order information without requesting customer fields. A visit’s source is kept as a label for the relevant comparison. This supports a merchandise-focused review without turning a homepage product-selection task into a customer-data collection exercise.

Connect the report with the storefront decision

The tool was checked against a reviewed storefront selection, including the order of the leading products. That gives the owner a useful way to inspect the reasoning behind a featured list. The ranking itself remains read-only; choosing which products belong on the homepage is a separate decision with its own review.

What the milestone establishes

The dated record includes dedicated tests and an exercised report. The tool does not predict future demand or prove that the highest-selling items should always receive the most prominent placement. It provides a clearer, repeatable answer to a bounded historical question while minimizing the personal information requested to answer it.
