ShopFit: fuller product descriptions with facts that survive the rewrite
New copy checks connect descriptions, titles and search text to supplier facts instead of allowing a fluent rewrite to introduce unsupported claims.
Work covered: Oct 2, 2026 – Oct 6, 2026
A longer description is not automatically a better one
Thin product descriptions leave shoppers guessing, but expanding them can introduce a different problem: invented materials, dimensions or selling points. ShopFit’s October work developed fuller descriptions from a brief and checked each draft against the supplier’s own facts. The review covered numbers, claims, material wording and the structure of the finished description.
Fix the fact wherever shoppers see it
One concrete lesson involved a material abbreviation that had been interpreted incorrectly. The correction needed to reach more than the product description: the title, image alternative text and search description could repeat the same mistake. The resulting workflow treats those surfaces as connected pieces of the same product record, so a corrected fact does not leave an old claim elsewhere.
Preview the stored result
Descriptions were written to a preview first and then read back before approved changes were applied. This matters because a storefront can normalize formatting when it saves content. Verifying the saved version checks what shoppers will actually receive. Follow-up corrections also preserved existing search titles where a partial update might otherwise clear them.
Reusable checks, human review
The fact-checking component was made reusable and shared with SiteFit’s business-copy workflow. The change supports better drafts and more consistent verification; it does not turn generated prose into an automatic source of truth. Supplier conflicts remain review items, and store changes still follow the approved publication process.
