Bars or Badge: an officer career with shifts, days off and consequences
The officer role gains a more coherent work life, including attendance, overtime, roster changes and its own interface.
Work covered: Sep 25, 2026 – Sep 30, 2026
The badge changes the daily loop
An officer career should not simply reuse an inmate’s choices under another name. The September work expanded the officer’s working life with days off, overtime and an attendance progression. Missing a post now belongs to the officer’s employment consequences rather than accidentally falling into an inmate work-detail rule.
The surrounding staff have careers too
The AI officer roster was developed with a range of experience, from new hires to long-serving staff. Days off keep an officer off the floor, while departures create a need for replacement hires. This gives the staffing model continuity: the people in posts are part of the institution’s ongoing life rather than disposable figures recreated for each scene.
Give the role a clearer screen
The period also brought distinct officer and inmate interfaces into the 3D game. Follow-up corrections kept officers out of inmate-specific content and made refused actions clearer on the career page. The interface and rules need to agree about the role; a visually different screen is not enough if its actions still belong to the other career.
What changed for play
This milestone makes the officer’s routine more legible: work, absence, time off and career events have a place in the game’s progression. The records cover built rules, client integration and checks during September. The separate home-life milestone extends that routine outside the institution, while later combat-response work develops what happens during incidents on duty.
