Bars or Badge: scenes play because something happened in the career

The scene integration connects intake, everyday milestones and incident outcomes to the events the game has already resolved.

Work covered: Sep 25, 2026

A scene needs a reason to start

The September 25 work connected planned scenes to actual career events. Before this integration, having an approved scene description did not mean the game played it. The new trigger path reads what a career action already changed, so a scene represents the event instead of deciding the event a second time.

Use the character’s actual progression

Triggers include arrival on the assigned tier, the following morning and the first commissary purchase. Searches, fights and hospital visits have their own event relationships. An officer does not receive an inmate intake scene simply because both roles can enter a room. That role and state awareness makes the presentation belong to the person being played.

Connect consecutive outcomes

When a fight and hospital visit belong to the same resolved action, the sequence can represent them together instead of presenting unrelated fragments. The implementation also had to give the player’s own side a visible body in the 3D fight presentation. A scene needs the correct participants as well as the correct trigger.

An integration milestone

The checks verify that reading a trigger does not change the career itself. This establishes a cleaner separation between gameplay outcome and cinematic presentation. Later combat-motion work still had unfinished cases, so this article does not imply final acceptance of every shot. The meaningful advance is that the scenes are connected to the game’s actual events and progression.
