Policy Lens: keep definitions, exceptions and the intended topic with the citation
The source-evidence upgrade connects related passages and corrects explicit SOMB topic handling in bilingual search.
Work covered: Oct 6, 2026
A relevant excerpt can leave out its conditions
A research answer may need a definition or exception in addition to the sentence that directly matches the question. The October 6 source-evidence work improved those links and how potentially contrary evidence about the same point is handled. The goal is to preserve the conditions attached to a passage rather than let a short quotation stand alone without context.
Keep the requested topic intact
Browser acceptance also found a routing problem with explicit SOMB references. The repair treated the acronym as a whole term and checked the intended English and Spanish paths. A familiar acronym should help select the relevant material; it should not become a partial-word match that sends the question somewhere else.
Make the source reachable
The review exercised Spanish excerpts and links to the relevant section or page. A citation is useful when a reader can inspect the evidence behind the answer. That requires the displayed text, topic selection and destination link to remain aligned, especially when the question and source presentation cross languages.
What the release establishes
The upgrade was activated and checked against paired answers and citations while preserving the source collection used by those checks. It is an evidence-handling milestone, separate from the collection refresh described in another article. It does not certify every translation or make the software a substitute for reading the original. It makes the route from question to passage to source more coherent.
