ASL Meet: more consistent host sign-in and session-expiry handling

The October source update separates host sign-ins and makes session decisions consistent across the meeting’s request paths.

Work covered: Oct 8, 2026

A host’s sign-in has a lifecycle

The October 8 work treats each host sign-in as its own session and strengthens how expiry is represented and checked. The intended outcome is a clearer relationship between signing in, remaining signed in and reaching the end of that session. This is separate from the Android call-and-chat release discussed in the previous article.

Make related paths agree

A meeting uses more than one kind of request as it opens and connects. The update brings those session decisions through a shared interpretation so the same sign-in information is not treated differently by different parts of the meeting workflow. Consistency at this boundary supports a more predictable host experience.

Preserve the transition and the other participants

The implementation includes a bounded transition for existing host sessions and checks that guest and native-client joins retain their intended behavior. The acceptance tests exercise distinct sign-ins, expiry, transition behavior across a restart and agreement between request paths. Those are specific regression cases rather than a claim about every possible security condition.

Prepared, not deployed

At the October 8 source checkpoint, this work had not been deployed. Existing connected-session behavior and broader sign-out lifecycle work also retained documented limits. The article reports the implemented candidate and its tests without disclosing operational session settings or presenting it as an already activated production change.
