ASL Help: read the definition and exception alongside the matching passage
Linked evidence and more selective retrieval help prevent a relevant-looking sentence from becoming an incomplete answer.
Work covered: Oct 6, 2026
The nearest sentence may not be enough
A passage can match a question while depending on a definition or exception elsewhere in the source. Help’s October 6 milestone improved those connections. Explicitly linked evidence can accompany the relevant passage, and the workflow looks for counter-evidence about the same proposition rather than treating any nearby disagreement as equivalent.
Ask questions the source can answer
The update also developed source-bound questions and terminology handling. When a term needs clarification, the available source should shape the clarification instead of encouraging a broad guess. Retrieval can selectively consider the original and corrected wording, preserving useful evidence that a text correction might otherwise miss.
Check English and Spanish without assuming equivalence
Bilingual diagnostics identify coverage and terminology issues that need review. They do not automatically certify that two translations mean exactly the same thing. The recorded release retained terminology-review items, which is a more useful boundary than declaring parity solely because both languages return an answer.
What changed in the live product
The upgrade was deployed and checked against existing answers, citations and public product questions. The measured checks preserved the tested answers while adding the new evidence handling. No new universal accuracy percentage follows from that result. The practical improvement is a better route from a matching excerpt to an answer that keeps the relevant definitions, exceptions and uncertainty attached.
