Bars World Editor: the world-building page becomes a Windows application
A desktop package adds a dedicated window, save-aware closing and local world-file handling to the existing editor.
Work covered: Sep 26, 2026
Give world creation its own workspace
The world editor previously opened as a browser page through the self-hosted game package. The September 26 milestone packaged that same editing experience as a Windows application. The intention is a direct desktop starting point for working on a world without first launching the separate server workflow.
Keep the editing behavior people need
The application hosts the existing editor and adds desktop behavior around it. Closing with unsaved changes prompts the user. External links open outside the editor, while file selection and saving remain part of the local workflow. The application’s own installed files are not used as a place to store the user’s edits.
Check an actual round trip
Acceptance opened the supplied world, displayed its zones and rooms, changed a name, added a zone and saved a world file through the page’s own controls. The checks also exercised the guide, tutorial and unsaved-change protection. That is more useful than verifying only that a package installs: it checks whether the editor can perform a real editing session.
A package milestone, not a Store announcement
The record includes a locally built and verified test package. It explicitly does not establish a public Store submission or a distribution-signed release. The meaningful progress is a working Windows application shape around the editor, with the desktop behaviors needed to make local world creation a coherent experience.
