AI Hub: tell an application why an image request did not complete
Recognized failure information helps consuming apps distinguish a provider refusal from a planning decision and respond more usefully.
Work covered: Sep 30, 2026 – Oct 1, 2026
“Failed” is not enough context
A consuming application needs to know what kind of unsuccessful outcome it received before deciding what to tell a person. AI Hub’s October work made recognized provider error codes available in failed responses without exposing the provider’s complete response. That gives an application a useful signal while keeping unnecessary detail out of the user journey.
Distinguish a refusal from an unattempted plan
A request stopped during planning has not necessarily reached a generation provider. The work preserved that distinction and allowed zero-attempt planning outcomes to be reconsidered where appropriate. Treating those cases as completed generation would confuse both the workflow state and the explanation offered to the user.
Let the consumer choose the right explanation
Outside Access uses the distinction to explain image refusals and end an unsuccessful request without repeatedly inviting the same submission. Other consumers can use the shared result within their own product flow. AI Hub supplies the bounded failure information; the consuming app remains responsible for how it communicates and what next action it offers.
The practical improvement
These supporting changes were deployed during the period. They do not turn every provider failure into a recoverable request, but they make the result more useful than a generic error. A person can receive an explanation that corresponds to what happened, and an application can avoid treating planning, refusal and successful generation as interchangeable states.
