LurkerLock: distinguish new information from another copy of the same alert
Notification work makes repeated observations, new evidence and resolved issues easier for the operator to distinguish.
Work covered: Oct 6, 2026 – Oct 8, 2026
More email is not necessarily more awareness
An operator can miss a meaningful change when it arrives among repeated notices about the same condition. LurkerLock’s October notification work focused on relevance: recurring observations remain recorded, while genuinely new information and response failures retain a reason to demand attention.
Preserve the difference between repeat and change
The revised handling groups recurring observations more carefully and distinguishes a new issue from another observation of an existing one. Resolution is also recorded. This gives an operator a clearer story over time instead of a sequence of messages that all look equally new.
Recognize reviewed maintenance
Approved maintenance is accounted for so the same reviewed change does not repeatedly appear as fresh news. That does not mean every later change is ignored. The distinction is whether the relevant change has already been reviewed, allowing the notification to remain useful when genuinely new evidence appears.
What was checked
The period’s records include notification reliability, relevance and actual delivery checks. This is a usability and operational-reliability milestone, not a claim that email alone prevents threats. The public article intentionally stays with the visible outcome: fewer unhelpful repetitions, clearer new information and a better record of resolution. It does not disclose deployment coverage, detection rules or response conditions.
